My Next Unfinished Project

So being a notorious DIYer....I've got more than my share of unfinished projects. I've noticed my new desire to do woodwork and all the tools it'd take to start this. Luckily, I'm avoiding this for now. Though, I think Spring will put a different urgency...but for now I'm planning in my head. Today, I came across this in the blogosphere...

I've wanted to paint the floor in the back room all along, but now more than just a checkered floor I've found my desired look. I'm not 100% sold on the pattern, maybe I'm still looking, but the plan is still a go...now to find the floor back there!

Fleeting sense of Adventure

So it is a rare thing for me to have an internal drive for adventure. This summer I wanted more than anything to do the zip lines in Puerto Rico and found the excursion that had rock climbing, rappelling and zip line on a tropical island. My desire to participate was SO strong that I insisted on doing it despite having no one to join me (and/or witness my adventure.)

I'm having a similar draw to snow skiing. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Olympics either. It does have something to do with the snow we've been lucky enough to get in the Eastern US. Since all the Eastern states have an abundant amount of snow, ski season has been extended until April 5th. Ironically, I looked on the internet around Christmas to see if I'd be able to go snow skiing during Spring break. It was too iffy for my $$. Now it seems that it is a go---but my $$ is what's iffy now!! You see I've never skied before. As it is now, I have no one to join me on this adventure and I'm just not sure I'm will to go it alone this time. Still I've spent time looking and may scurry up some plans if the price is right!

First time for Everything

Since there's a first time for everything....I guess that includes forgetting to take a picture. If today is the only hole in the 2010 snore fest of photos, then whoop-di-doo! So in honor of my forgetting, I'll post a pic I took on day 2 or 3 because it was just too dang funny!

For ME?

Ok, so for a single gal who doesn't do Valentine's I was shocked when Vickie gave me 3 pair of earring she made for me! So the whole story was that her husband thought I needed them to go with my new haircut! For people who know Vickie we're blessed by her life and servitude. For those who don't know Vickie, well you're missing a rare creation of God's grace!
I'm blessed to have her in my SS class and to have spent time with her in the past few years. She's silently battled breast cancer twice and is now battling a secondary cancer that has metastasized to one of her vertebrate. But that's not stopping her from going to work, coming to church, going to events, and I dare say it will ever stop her!
Let me just say how lucky I am to know her and even luckier that she not only thought about giving me a gift....but she worked hard to make this gift, which I'll treasure always!

More than Conquerors

The best event all year long is my Sunday school's Valentine party. This year was the 3rd year to play the Not-So-Newlywed game. The Portwoods won last year and the year before, but the Nolens were 2nd last year because he was scared to call her "sexy". It's a great running joke now, though!
Well this year they won.....and what great annual game doesn't need a hideous trophy to pass from winner to winner. I found the perfect trophy too!

We played Sweetheart's Family Feud too. It was WAY difficult to do all the slide permutation, but so worth it in the end. Everyone raved about how much fun they had at the party.

3 Cheers for Cheer

My favorite detergent is Cheer Powder detergent. Right now Wal-Mart isn't carrying it...ugh. Kroger has it but it's more expensive. I've not been to Sam's in forever and I tagged along with Mom & Dad today, so I stocked up on Cheer detergent. I wondered how long a box of detergent lasts me....now I'll have proof!

Let it Snow, Let it Sleet, Let it SNOW!

Friday as usual the weather rolled in early that morning, making them cancel school at 5 AM. Sonja had to be at work, so I got up and drove to her house. The weather was no-stop all day and there was no getting out in it. It took Sonja 1.5 hours to get home from work, a trip that usually take 25 minutes. The streets weren't being cleared and I had no plans to drive in it. E and I spent our snow day doing things that he never has time to do like his Envirobattery kit that he got at the Adventure Science Center this summer.

Playing in the snow was fun for him too. He went out twice.
